Delilah
Rescue date - 24 September 2010Shortly after Samson our mini arrived, along came Delilah who was aged around 10 years old. We had a call from Almoradi Police Station who informed us that they had a horse in their Police Station. She was found roaming along the streets. She had a very bad eye infection; it turned out that she had an allergy to flies. Her eyes were so swollen up she couldn’t see out of them and it appeared that she had been kept in a cramped area with other horses as she was full of cuts, bites and had been kicked all over. She was also very malnourished and hadn’t been fed the correct diet. Upon arriving at the Centre she settled in quickly, her eyes were treated for the infection and she was fed the correct diet. She is well now but will always have problems with her eyes which is counteracted by tender loving care and wearing a fly veil to protect her eyes from the flies. It was not known at the time we rescued her but Delilah was in foal; the patter of tiny hooves will be heard imminently at the Centre where Delilah will be allowed to develop a loving bond with her baby. Further updates will be given when our beautiful foal arrives.

Tiny bundle of joy for Delilah
This stunning newborn baby boy finally arrived at 1.00am in the morning on 17 May, after many weeks of waiting and a very fraught 24 hours for Sue and Rod Weeding who were with Delilah when she gave birth. Problems ensued initially when the little foal failed to get to her feet and the Centre vet was called out, but just look at him 12 hours later- what a beautiful little boy! Proud mum and baby are now both doing well, have been turned out already, and are developing a loving bond together.

Harry Trotter
A name has been chosen for Delilah’s baby. When Georgie May, local celebrity, model and representative of the centre noticed that the little foal had an unusual mark on his head, she said “It is a miracle that this beautiful foal was born into the world after his mother’s traumatic experiences. Through the centre’s amazing work in rescuing his mother, Harry is alive and well. Although from the moment I saw the new born foal at the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre I immediately noticed something very special about him. Unlike most horses this little foal had an obvious white marking on his head, in the shape of a lightening bolt. With others at the centre also noticing the mark it could not be ignored as to what his name should be. Possibly Harry Potter? Or even better, Harry Trotter! The centre’s newest celebrity, little Harry Trotter can be seen at the centre on their open days on Wednesdays and Saturday from 1.00 to 4.00!” Delicious hot food and home made cakes available.

Update on Delilah September 2011Harry Trotter was born on May 17th 2011 at 1:30am. We actually had to stay with him from birth for 24 hours as he was unable to stand without assistance, and it was vital to regularly get him up to his mother to feed in order to survive. He’s called Harry Trotter because Georgie May (who was in the last two Harry Potter movies) saw him just after his birth and commented that he had the lightening bolt like Harry Potter on his forehead – hence, Harry Trotter. He also has a perfect diamond on his nose, and will undoubtedly grow into a much larger horse than his mother.
