Help protect our rescued horses
We need your help.
We've started a major building project to replace our crumbling and insecure boundary fence. This upgrade became urgent last year after we rescued Oscar, a horse so thin he looked like a walking skeleton.
Despite the obvious case of neglect, Oscar’s former owners mounted a case to claim him back.
Things got ugly. We felt under siege.
Incredibly, so many of you rallied to help us raise €13,000 – enough for our co-founder Rod to start building the secure wall we so desperately need.
Now we’ve realised the wall is a unique opportunity to dramatically improve the lives of our rescued horses.
By building five sections of the wall higher, we can give our equines shelter from winter's freezing north winds. We'll also be able to use the boundary fence as a back wall for large and sturdy field shelters, providing much-needed protection from summer’s intense sun.
We must act now, as construction of the wall is currently underway.
Completing the entire project will cost €20,000. That includes:
- A two-metre high, 218-metre long block wall along the road-front boundary of our rescue centre, complete with concrete foundations. (ALREADY FUNDED)
- Five sections built higher and stronger to become the back wall of field shelters in the future, with lower sections between topped by metal fencing for extra security. (UNFUNDED)
We're already two-thirds of the way there – please help us raise the final €7000 we need.
A donation of just €35 will buy an entire metre of fencing, while donors who contribute €200 or more will be honoured with a plaque on a dedicated section of the wall.
But even a small €5 donation will help. Make a difference in a horse’s life today – donate via the secure contribution box below.
