We are regularly contacted about abused, mistreated or neglected horses, ponies or donkeys and we will always do everything we can to help the animals.
Our team of dedicated volunteers will investigate cases and where appropriate report the mistreatment to the authorities. Unfortunately, stopping cruelty and rescuing animals is usually far from straight forward.
Although there are relatively good animal mistreatment laws in the Valencian community, getting the laws enforced can be difficult as the authorities charged with applying the laws are often reluctant to act. In such cases we apply as much pressure as we can, but we have no real power.
We do feel that things are gradually changing and that the mistreatment of animals is being seen as more and more unacceptable here in Alicante. However, for these changes to really take hold, those in power must understand that the majority of people want to see an end to animal cruelty. Public opinion is the most powerful force for change, so please, if you come across cases of cruelty to any animal, report the abuse.
