Is it OK to keep horses like this?
UPDATE
Since the story below was published we have managed to meet with the mayor and town hall officials. They have promised to take fast action to end the suffering of these horses. We will keep you updated, but we still need you to show your support.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Locked in permanent darkness and slowly starving to death, we have counted up to seven horses and a pig chained in tiny 'rooms' inside a shack of cobbled together scrap timber and corrugated iron. Just minutes away, children play in a lovely landscaped park. Is this really OK? Please help us end this misery.
These horses never see the light of day. They are kept in almost total darkness 24 hours a day, seven days a week, some chained to their mangers. One miniature horse is housed in a pitch black cupboard. The meagre food supply they are given is not enough to keep them alive, so they are gradually and painfully starving.
We need to save these horses NOW. And we need your help. If you think this is wrong, please sign our petition and add your voice to our campaign to save these horses.
Read more about the difficulties we have rescuing horses, and why we need your help in our newsletter.
If we can show the authorities that people do care, we may be able to put an end to this appalling suffering.
We must get these horses out of the hell hole they are living in. We will take them in at the Centre and give them the specialist care they will need after the abuse they have suffered. But we have no official funding and rely 100% on donations. We are already caring for 21 horses and our funds are barely covering the food bill. We will not turn horses like these away but we will need financial support. Please help us raise the money to save these horses.
