Luna
Rescue Date - 5 December 2008
It's every little girls dream to own a pony and every Fathers dream to buy her one. In this case Luna (supposedly only 16 years old) was bought for a 4 year old little girl, where no one in the family had any horse care or management experience. Although not abused, through ignorance, Luna didn't receive the time and care that any horse, especially an older one needs.
Luna's owner was considering having her put down, but thankfully decided to call us first.
Luna is actually around 28 years old and will need a special diet, supplements, pain killers and lots of tender loving care to help her enjoy her life to the full. So please Mums and Dads, think very carefully before being sold that dream pony.
Luna was used for many years in a riding school where she gave lots of pleasure to both children and adults, who learnt to ride on her, due to her very kind nature. Now it's time for us to give back to Luna, so please help us to help her.

In January 2009, we received an email from a girl called Phoebe in England, who had been told about Luna being at our Rescue Centre. Phoebe had learnt to ride on Luna whilst she was in Spain. This is what Phoebe said-
"In my art classes we were asked to draw and write about our favourite memories and I did when I first met Luna and how she taught me to walk, trot, canter etc and how she was sold and then finding out that she was in a rescue centre. It had my art teacher in tears it was so sad. I can't wait to come and see you and the horses. Give love to Luna and all the other horses from me please."

Update - 21 April 2011
Luna continues to live at the Centre and is now a very old lady. She will live the rest of her life with us here at the Centre, where she will have the tender loving care and retirement that she so richly deserves. Last Christmas was her third Christmas with us here and we are hoping beyond hope that she will be with us for her fourth Christmas.
These rescues and ongoing care can only continue with your support.
