Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre

Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected and abandoned horses, ponies and donkeys, while campaigning for the better treatment of animals across Spain. We are a no-kill foundation and provide each rescued animal with a safe and loving sanctuary – either here at our centre or via rehoming – for the rest of their lives.

Our rescued horses

Everything we do here at Easy Horse Care comes back to these guys – the horses we've saved from abuse, neglect and abandonment. Many of these animals lived in terrible circumstances yet managed to survive against the odds.

Here you can meet the many horses we've saved and read their incredible survival stories. You can also meet our rescued ponies hereour rescued donkeys here and apply for equine adoption here.

"Maybe you can't change the world by saving one horse, but you can change the whole world for the horse that you save." – Sue Weeding, Easy Horse Care co-founder

1Bronson by Eck

Bronson

Bronson had been beaten so badly with a hammer that his skull was fractured. His balance and eyesight have been permanently affected, yet he is one of the kindest, happiest horses you could meet.

Bronte on April 24 2017 - photo Elaine Warnock

Bronte

Bronte was once a competition horse in the UK and came to live in our centre not because she was neglected or abused, but because she had owners who cared very much for her.

Chulo the rescued horse.

Chulo

Chulo suffers from a tilted pelvis and "wind sucks", meaning he was likely locked in a stable for long periods for much of his life.

Conker in May 2016 photo Koren Helbig

Conker

Tied up beside a bustling motorway and abandoned, Conker was very head shy when he arrived at our centre, evidence he’d been bashed in the past.

Dallas

Dallas is an ex-show jumper who was left to starve after a leg fracture rendered him unable to be ridden. He’s a big but incredibly kind horse and we love him to bits.

Jett in April 2017 - photo Elaine Warnock

Jett

Skeletal and with one hind leg close to collapsing, it's incredible that Jett survived. Poor bone development has left Jett with severe deformities that require ongoing special care, but he’s a fiercely intelligent horse with great inner strength.

Luceiro

Luceiro

Luceiro is the horse that started it all; the reason our centre exists. He'd been locked in a dark stable for months, his left eye so badly injured that it was rotting. We later had to surgically remove his eye, but he remains a proud and beautiful horse.

Luna on April 24 2017 photo Elaine Warnock

Luna (The Second)

Luna is unlike any horse we've ever encountered. She has severe psychological issues, likely as a result of past abuse, and also suffers a genetic tendon condition. But with her best friend Mimosa, this young misfit mare has found peace and companionship.

Oscar

Oscar's rescue sparked some dark months. So thin he looked like a walking skeleton, Oscar was legally placed in our care before his owners contested the case. For months, we felt under siege. But we kept Oscar safe and, eventually, we all pulled through.

Sirius April 2017 photo Elaine Warnock

Sirius

Sirius was wasting away on a piece of land beside our rescue centre – an old, unrideable horse with a respiratory illness, apparently of no value. While he does require special extra care, he would make a fabulous outdoor companion horse for a loving family.

The Callosa de Segura 14

The rescue of these 14 horses in 2014 from a bankrupt horse dealer was our biggest and most expensive operation to date. Each horse was neglected, starving, and undoubtedly very near death. Now safe with us, they will never again be chained to walls.
