Hannah
Rescued: October 17, 2009
Passed away: February, 2014
Hannah was an absolutely beautiful horse. Hannah was a three day eventer and class A showjumper who had competed all over the world, winning numerous championships. She was not the type of horse you would expect to find at a rescue centre. Hannah, her daughter Bronte and Rhani came to us not because they had owners who didn’t care, but because their owners cared so much.
When they were struck down with ill health and forced to return to the UK, Hannah and Bronte’s owners were desperately worried for them. At 24, Hannah was too old to make the journey with them and they feared for her future. They thought that if they put her in a livery yard in Spain she might be ridden, even though she should now be retired, or worse, due to her championship status, used for breeding. Knowing this would cause her dreadful suffering, they came to the heartbreaking conclusion that the only option was to have her put down.
Fortunately, they then heard about us and asked if we could help. Of course, we immediately offered Hannah a retirement home at the Centre.
Hannah passed away in February 2014.
