Our rescued equines

Bobby

Abandoned along a Murcia canal without any food or water, thin little Bobby was rescued in conjunction with San Javier police. Bobby now lives happily outdoors with donkey friends, likely the first time he’s ever been completely free range in a large space.

Bronson

Bronson had been beaten so badly with a hammer that his skull was fractured. His balance and eyesight have been permanently affected, yet he is one of the kindest, happiest horses you could meet.

Charlie

Once a much-loved gymkhana pony, Charlie was brought to Spain from the UK then given away when his young rider grew up. He suffers from Cushing’s disease and struggles in Spain’s heat, yet still manages to live a happy life with his best friend Lucky.

Chocolate Twinkle & Marble Dingo

These two babies were dumped on a roundabout beside a busy road in an absolutely pitiful state. Police held them in a pen for stray dogs until we arrived. With care and kindness, they are maturing into gentle and friendly donkeys.

Christiana

Christiana was found barricaded within a tiny wire enclosure and had to be cut free by police. She had a severe eye infection and painfully overgrown hooves. These days she is an extremely affectionate donkey who loves cuddles.

Chulo

Chulo suffers from a tilted pelvis and “wind sucks”, meaning he was likely locked in a stable for long periods for much of his life.

Coco

Abandoned on the streets, Coco had severe facial wounds caused by a crude rope halter that had grown into her head. She was also very malnourished and suffers laminitis. She’d likely never been treated kindly before, yet Coco is incredibly loving and cuddly.

Conker

Tied up beside a bustling motorway and abandoned, Conker was very head shy when he arrived at our centre, evidence he’d been bashed in the past.

Cruz

Cruz had gouges across his face caused by bailing twine his owners had used as a halter. He lost an eye, but under our care Cruz’s misshapen face healed and he’s grown into the most beautiful miniature pony.

Daisy

Daisy was abandoned during a heatwave with nothing but a string around her neck, completely blind in one eye. We called her daisy because she looks like an adorable little cow with her black and white coat and the strange shape of her back!

Dakota

Beautiful Dakota came to us from a Spanish/Swedish family that had had her for many years and were very attached to here.

Diplomat

Diplomat’s rescue was tense and dangerous, involving multiple police officers amid the threat of violence. Skeletal and wild, this abused stallion had to learn to trust again. Now gelded, he has found happiness and companionship with his girlfriend, Goldie.

Donkey Oaty

Once dressed up in costumes and paraded around as a English riding school’s mascot, Donkey Oaty was abandoned along with several horses when the school went bust. A happy-go-lucky young fellow, Donkey Oaty is now a friend to all, both equine and human.

Duke

Duke was found wandering near Almoradí’s communal swimming pool and sports centre and, because he wasn’t microchipped, we had no way of finding his owner. We were extremely impressed by the swift action of local police with this case.

Rescued donkey Dulce Dawn

Dulce Dawn

Cruelly hobbled and left to stand alone in torrential rainfall without shelter, Dulce Dawn was a sorry sight. Despite bearing visible scars from her ordeal, she is the kindest and gentlest donkey.
