Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre

Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected and abandoned horses, ponies and donkeys, while campaigning for the better treatment of animals across Spain. We are a no-kill foundation and provide each rescued animal with a safe and loving sanctuary – either here at our centre or via rehoming – for the rest of their lives.

Arisco II

To-day we had to say goodbye to our wonderful Arisco 11. We had to make this heartbreaking decision to-day as his kidneys were failing. There was nothing that could be done for him and we did not want him to suffer. The first photo was when we rescued him on 3rd January 2012. The man who had him shut him in a falling down building and left him to starve as he could no longer be ridden and was of no value to him. The other photo is a recent one of him. Arisco had two happy years living at the Rescue Centre and all of us will miss him very much X

His story

Rescued - 3rd January 2012

Arisco II has now had his castration and has made a very rapid recovery.
As we reported in our newsletter, the once purebread Spanish military horse arrived in the New Year and was slowly starving to death but he has since gained weight and is looking much more healthy!
He was also facing numerous surgical procedures including an operation on his fetlock as an old injury was causing calcification and breaking of the bone, but vet Dorothea has been injecting fluid and cortisone into Arisco and it seems to have improved and he will avoid the operating table for this one, however, there are still problems with his manhood that is not in its correct position. Now on steroid injections and gaining weight he will soon be strong enough to have the operation to correct it once vet Dorothea has decided on the best procedure.
Dorothea carried out the castration with the assistance of Rod and Margit and he is now enjoying all the carrots and fuss he has been getting.
