Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected and abandoned horses, ponies and donkeys, while campaigning for the better treatment of animals across Spain. We are a no-kill foundation and provide each rescued animal with a safe and loving sanctuary for the rest of their lives.
The once purebread Spanish military horse arrived in the New Year and was slowly starving to death but he has since gained weight and is looking much more healthy!
Beauty
Beauty was being beaten by a group of thugs when rescued by Spanish police. Skeletal and scarred, this poor old girl had suffered a lifetime of abuse. Now enjoying a quiet retirement, our centre’s official grandma is surrounded by love and care.
Bella
Bella was so near death when rescued that she collapsed as we tried to lead her into our horse float. Her psychological rehabilitation has taken years, but she’s finally no longer afraid and loves cuddles and affection.
Beni
Beni had serious psychological problems when first rescued and bore scarring down his front legs. Over the years we’ve helped him heal psychologically and physically and he now enjoys life at our centre.
Betty Boop
Betty Boop was found at the same place as the 14 Callosa del Segura horses, but the following day after that huge rescue. Police had called our rescue centre to say she had been found tied to a tree with bell twine.
Blanca
Blanca had no food or water and was extremely malnourished when we were alerted to her plight. Her rescue was the catalyst for the discovery and rescue of two other horses and two donkeys. She is a strong-minded girl with a survivor instinct.
Braveheart
Shut inside a grotty chain-link and concrete pen with only rubbish to eat, Braveheart was malnourished when he arrived. A horse rescued from the same property died, but Braveheart was our little survivor.
Bronte
Bronte was once a competition horse in the UK and came to live in our centre not because she was neglected or abused, but because she had owners who cared very much for her.
Captain & Hope
Captain and Hope were found locked in an isolated barn without food or water. They were both skeletal and malnourished, and Captain also suffered from a severely infected leg due to a knee injury.
Charity
Charity, our first rescue donkey, was spotted in a piece of rough ground, tied up with no food or water, very close to our rescue entre, along with a horse and another two donkeys.
Cookie
Cookie was found half bald and covered in mud and faeces, abandoned to die on wasteground. After specialist surgery to correct leg deformations, she lived a healthy and happy life at our centre.
Cordobesa
Cordobesa was not a rescued horse. Sue and Rod acquired her before they started the rescue centre.
Crystal
Crystal was once worth a fortune as a broodmare, but her owners stopped feeding her as the Spanish economic crisis hit. At first terribly thin and very antisocial, Crystal grew to love company and wanted to meet absolutely everybody. She is so very missed.
Dallas
Dallas is an ex-show jumper who was left to starve after a leg fracture rendered him unable to be ridden. He’s a big but incredibly kind horse and we love him to bits.
Delilah
Abandoned in 2010, Delilah was so skeletal and sick when rescued that no one suspected she was in foal. A few months later, Delilah gave birth to Harry Trotter, the second foal born at our centre. We were so sad to lose her to colic just two years later.
